Folliculosis of Rabbits
نویسندگان
چکیده
Spontaneous conjunctival folliculosis, a disease widespread among rabbits, has been described in a preceding article (1) as occurring in two clinical forms, Type I and Type II . The former is characterized by a dormant chronicity with discrete lesions, whereas the second type, a more act ively progressive disease, presents an inf lammatory follicular reaction involving all the palpebral conjunctival surfaces. I t was found tha t the transit ion from one type to the other, an infrequent occurrence in nature, could more often be induced artificially by experimental procedures. From our studies a conclusion was drawn tha t the causal factor of the affection is not an ultramicroscopic virus bu t an infectious agent behaving after the manner of bacteria of low grade pathogenici ty. In this second paper the results of Our bacteriological investigations will be presented.

Studies on the Etiology of Spontaneous Conjunctival Folliculosis of Rabbits
Before summarizing the experimental results presented herewith, a brief review is indicated of our study on follicular conjunctivitides existing in the different species of animals thus far examined. Spontaneous follicular conjunctivitis of monkeys and chimpanzees, which resembles the early, or follicular, stages of human trachoma, has been shown to be an infectious disease, and to arise from t...

متن کاملStudies on the Etiology of Spontaneous Conjunctival Folliculosis of Monkeys
Spontaneous folliculosis of Macacus rhesus monkeys-a type of follicular conjunctivitis associated with marked, local, inflammatory reactions-is apparently a disease sui generis, due to a specific infectious agent. It can be transmitted from monkey to monkey by means of subconjunctival injection of suspensions, and by conjunctival swabbing of the secretions, of affected tissues, or by contact of...
متن کاملPrevention and treatment of Encephalitozoon cuniculi infection in immunosuppressed rabbits with fenbendazole
This study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of oral administration of fenbendazole (20 mg/kg body weight) prior to and after experimental infection of immunosuppressed rabbits with Encephalitozoon cuniculi. A total of thirty rabbits were divided into five groups: NN (non-immunosuppressed; non-infected), IN (immunosuppressed; non-infected), IPI (immunosuppressed; protected-infected), ITI (...

On the basis of above features, he was diagnosed of ichthyosis follicularis alopecia and photophobia (IFAP) syndrome1 that is caused by mutation in MBTPS2 gen...
